BIOGRAPHY
Carlos Benjumea was a Colombian film, theater and television actor, director and comedian, born in the city of Bogotá on January 27, 1941.
El Gordo Benjumea, as he was affectionately known, began his career in the theater, then went on to the famous comedy “Yo y tu”, in the 70s he ventured into cinema, being the main star of several films, he also ventured into soap operas, in television programs as a presenter, and directed several theater and television productions, he was also the co-founder of the programming company Coestrellas.

During his more than 50 years in the artistic world, Carlos Benjumea stood out as a versatile actor with a great ability to venture into different roles. In 2017, he was awarded the Víctor Nieto award at the India Catalina for his artistic career.
Estuvo casado con Liz Yamayusa, hermana de la también actriz Maru Yamayusa, Sus hijos Marcela Benjumea, Ernesto Benjumea and Paola Benjumea They have developed successful careers in acting.
On May 13, 2021, he died due to several health complications that had arisen in previous months.
