BIOGRAPHY

Arcelia Bernal del Río better known in the artistic world as Chela del Río was a Colombian actress born in the city of Bogotá on January 20, 1930.

Del Río inicio su carrera en Cali en una emisora de Radio, luego dio el paso a la televisión, donde se le considera como una de las pioneras de la televisión Colombiana, donde destaco en varias producciones entre las que destacan San Tropel, Don Chinche, Pecados capitales, entre muchas otras.

Chela del Río se caso muy joven y a los 28 años su esposo falleció, tuvo seis hijas, su segundo matrimonio fue con el también actor Waldo Urrego con quien tuvo dos hijos, en los años 70´s se separo del actor, dos de sus hijas Lucero Gomez and Gloria Gomez They also formed notable careers as actresses on Colombian television. After several complications with knee surgery, Chela del Rio died on August 24, 2010 at the age of eighty.
