Biography
María Inés McCormick is a Colombian writer and journalist born in Bogotá, Colombia, in 1975. She is the author of books such as El Mohán (2012), El Infiltrado (2013), and Algo pasa en La Quinta San Roque (2017), among others.
She studied Social Communication and Journalism at the Universidad Javeriana, complementing her academic training with a specialization in Social Policy.
Journalistic and Literary Career
For over fifteen years, she practiced journalism in various media outlets in Colombia and Latin America. Later, she decided to focus her professional career on literature. In 2008, she won the El Barco de Vapor – Biblioteca Luis Ángel Arango children’s literature award for her book Patricio Pico y Pluma in the Strange Disappearance of Doctor Bonett. Following this recognition, she has continued to publish various works.
Personal Life
McCormick is the youngest of four siblings. In 2008, she moved to France with her husband, where her two daughters were born. Throughout her years abroad, she has diversified her professional work, working as a freelance journalist, translator, copywriter, workshop facilitator, Spanish teacher, and communications consultant.
Her interest in travel and different cultures has led her to reside in a wide variety of cities throughout her life, including Bogotá, Madrid, Buenos Aires, Montpellier, La Rochelle, Toulouse, and Bordeaux.
