Ingredients
- 4 cups yellow corn dough (soft)
- ¼ pound of butter
- 2 egg (only the yolks)
- ¼ pound curd (or fresh cheese)
- ¼ fresh milk bottle
- Sugar
- Salt to taste
Step by step preparation
- To make the corn dough, the first thing you should do is soak the yellow corn for at least 24 hours.
- Once this time has passed, remove them from the water, but not before cleaning them a little of any impurities you see, then proceed to grind them. If you don't have a grinder, you can grind them, put them through a processor or also use a powerful blender.
- Then add water little by little and begin to knead until you achieve a smooth dough.
- Then you must mix the dough with the butter, egg yolks, milk, sugar and salt to taste. Then proceed to knead very well.
- When you have a well-integrated dough, proceed to form the arepas, and then place them to grill. Traditionally, these arepas are usually grilled on a previously washed and preheated flagstone, but in your case you can use a frying pan or grill.
- When you see that the arepas are half roasted, remove them from the heat and cut them in half with the help of a knife, and add the curd cheese or previously ground fresh cheese, as the case may be, between both halves and place them back in the pan. pan or grill to finish roasting, when they are golden brown it will be time to remove them.
