Campos has competed several times in the National Barista Championship, taking first place in 2015, 2016, and 2019. He also participated in the World Championship in 2014 and 2015, placing thirteenth and third, respectively.

“Colombia, this is for you: the baristas, the coffee growers, for everyone who wakes up every day to dream and achieve their goals. This belongs to all of us,” said Diego Campos, the new World Barista Champion, upon receiving the award.

The representatives from the United States and Australia took second and third place, respectively. Notably, both competitors also used Colombian coffee beans in their routines, highlighting the appreciation that industry professionals have for the quality of Colombian coffee.

This title holds significant importance for Colombia. As one of the world’s largest coffee producers, this victory confirms that not only are the country’s beans of exceptional quality, but the service industry built around them also meets the highest global standards.

Diego Campos has been working as a barista for 13 years and has been involved in planting, harvesting, and producing coffee for nearly 18 years, balancing both activities. He shares these passions with his wife, Derlin Roa, the 2019 National AeroPress Champion.

Campos trained for five years to fulfill his dream of winning this title, an achievement that today fills all of Colombia with pride.
