Among the myths and legends that circulate through the streets of Bogotá, there is one that still causes uncertainty due to the doubt of knowing if it really happened, it is the legend of the cannibal restaurant of la calera.

From the 70s to the end of the 80s the restaurant L'Angolo de Gigi by Italian chef Gigi Ferruzo It was one of the most famous gastronomic venues in Bogotá. The restaurant began to gain fame after surprising everyone with the great flavor of its meat, so much so that businessmen, artists, politicians and other figures in Colombia's social life frequented the place constantly. This made its chef Gigi Ferruzo begin to surround himself with people of great power.

At that time, Colombia was experiencing one of the most difficult moments in its history, with drug trafficking rampant and the internal war generating chaos. During that chaotic time, chef Gigi and his restaurant gained a lot of fame, causing Ferruzo to surround himself with people of great power, but also of dubious reputation. Some say that the chef's attitude changed and he even began to dress like a gangster. At the same time, rumors began to emerge on the streets of the city claiming that human meat was served in Ferruzo's restaurant.

One of the restaurant's former employees later reported that the chef did not allow anyone to touch the meat, that only he could sign for it and handle it. Ferruzo said that the meat was sent to him by his sister from Italy, however, years later Later her sister denied that statement, stating that she was a vegetarian so that was illogical.

During those years, one of the most tragic events in the history of Colombia took place, the storming of the courthouse. After the completion of those events, a former F2 agent, a former secret police, assured that he probably had contact with Chef Gigi since he They gave orders to let him in to select the “most stuffed corpses,” and you can imagine for what purpose they allowed that. The legend gains even more strength from the fact that to this day there are people missing from that tragic event.

As the days and weeks passed, the rumors began to gain more and more strength, which made many people begin to give up on the idea of eating at the famous cannibal restaurant. After pressure from the rumors, Gigi Ferruzo closed the L' restaurant. Gigi's Angolo and was never heard from again.

But the big question remained whether human meat was really served in the Calera Restaurant.
