The International Children's Festival of Llanera Music “La Palometa de Oro” takes place in Puerto Carreño, capital of Vichada, this festival was created in the year 2000 with the intention of firstly encouraging the llanera culture in the children of the region, and secondly to promote and protect the “Palometa”, a fish native to the eastern plains, which is one of the symbols of the Department of Vichada.

It is currently considered the largest and most important children's llanera music festival in the world; The festival usually takes place in the second week of November every year.

Within the framework of the festival, children's singing competitions, plain dance, typical instrumental interpretation, and workshops are held. sport fishing; It should be noted that the region of the eastern plains is one of the most desirable for the development of sport fishing due to its hydrological and ichthyological abundance.

Boys and girls from the eastern plains region of Colombia and Venezuela participate in this festival and prepare all year round to demonstrate their knowledge and skills around the activities that take place at the festival.
