In recent days, a day of awareness, cleaning and solid waste collection was held on the beaches of Manzanillo del Mar. Young people linked to the ExpreArte and Atrévete a Ser Líder programs of the Serena del Mar Foundation and the volunteers of the Multiplier Environmental Guardians program of the Planeta Azul Caribe Foundation.
Both organizations brought together 50 children and young people, who collected 24 kilos of waste that were transformed into an exhibition cube by the Swiss artist Harald Reichenbach.
Reichenbach is the creator of G-Cubes, a creative project with socio-environmental and artistic purposes, which draws attention to the pollution of water sources and proposes a novel solution to this problem, so that, in the words of the Bernese, “the "Waste becomes useful again for polluters."
The artistic piece is part of the Navigating through Cartagena project of the G-Cubes Society Organization, and was exhibited at the Casa Museo Arte y Cultura La Presentación and at the Institución Universitaria Bellas Artes y Ciencias de Bolívar.
“The main contribution of this activity is to be able to demonstrate to our children and young people what consciousness and will achieve. The creation of a culture in favor of the responsible use of natural resources is one of our work fronts as a Foundation, and in that sense we will continue joining efforts with other social and environmental managers, which allow us to transform minds and habits," said Isabel Mathieu. , Manager of the Serena del Mar Foundation.
For his part, Luis Fernando Sánchez Rubio, Director of the Planeta Azul Caribe Foundation, said that “We participated in the cleanup day, with the purpose of exchanging experiences with the young people of Manzanillo del Mar, showing our TRIADA Model, in search of equity. in Cartagena, changing the paradigm of development focused on wealth, for sustainable development focused on the valuation of urban mangroves, as environmental goods and ecosystem services for communities.
