BIOGRAPHY
Mélida Yará Yaguma, better known as La India Meliyara, is a Colombian cumbia singer, born in Natagaima, Tolima, Colombia; on June 16, 1956.
I am part of the musical group La Sonora Dinamita and is currently part of the group La India Meliyará y su Explosiva Sonora; His music has crossed borders, managing to position himself as one of the representative voices of the cumbia genre in Latin America.

From a young age he showed his talent for singing, with the support of his father Antonio Yará and his mother Marina Yanguma, he decided to represent his region at the age of 13 in different competitions for amateurs sponsored by the stations. In 1972 she began musical studies at the Tolima Conservatory where she stood out among the singing students and was chosen as a soloist in the Tolima Choir, which gave a better structure to her artistic and musical training. That same year he won the Voz del Tolima Singer of the Year contest.
In 1974 he triumphed in the National Contest for the New Star of Songs organized by the programmer Jorge Barón Televisión, which gave him the right to record his first album as a professional singer.
