Monument to Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra in Cartagena de Indias

The Monument to Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra in Cartagena de Indias is located in front of the Banco Popular facilities, in the La Matuna sector in a small square called “Plazoleta Cervantes”, the area in which it is located is privileged as it is surrounded by he Camellón de los Martires, Centennial Park and the clock tower.

The Monument was made on the occasion of the IV Congress of the Spanish Language, which took place in March 2007 in the Heroic city, the sculpture was made by the sculptor Hector Lombana Piñeres.

The sculpture is made of bronze and portrays the writer sitting in a chair of the time; with a pen in his hand; On its pedestal you can see several high reliefs of the adventures of Don Quixote de la Mancha, his masterpiece, as well as a writing alluding to the sculpture and a plaque on the floor with a writing alluding to Cervantes and Cartagena de Indias.
