La Heroica continues to position Colombia as a luxury tourist destination before the world, this time it received new international recognition that places the capital of Bolívar as one of the best tourist destinations on the planet.
The recognition came from the prestigious Travel + Leisure magazine, which placed Cartagena de Indias in position nine as one of the 25 most beautiful cities on the globe, surpassing destinations such as Rome (Italy), Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and Tbilisi. (Georgia).
In its article, the magazine highlighted that “The ancient walled city, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, is one of the most preserved (and, again, extremely photogenic) in South America. The trinitarias or veraneras (plants) sprout from the balconies of the buildings painted in coral, cobalt, fuchsia and bright marigold.”

The publication also highlighted that “There is a lot of architecture and history, and high-level gastronomy; Cartagena is home to some of Colombia's top chefs. Cartagena is also known for its nightlife, especially during the Christmas season.”
This recognition is added to the various awards and nominations that the corralito de piedra continues to collect, among which are: nominations for the World Travel Awards in the categories 'Best leading cultural destination in South America', 'Leading honeymoon destination in South America', 'South America's Most Romantic Destination', and 'South America's Leading Cruise Port'; also obtained the “Best Cultural City Award” at the Travelbook Award 2023.
