The Plazoleta Benkos Bioho is located in the Matuna sector, in the center of Cartagena de Indias, the square formerly called “Plazoleta Telecom” was renamed on April 15, 2012 as “Plazoleta Benkos Bioho” in honor of the maroon leader Domingo Benkos Bioho, founder of Saint Basil of Palenque, which is considered the first free town in America.
This small square looks like a large garden, one in which pigeons and mariamulatas walk like owners and ladies of the place, a small square with the aroma of red wine and coffee; a place that collects the footsteps of locals and visitors who walk from one place to another through the city, despite not being a small square as old as the colonial ones in the historic center, it has its own charm in the brushstrokes of graffiti that adorn the neighboring walls, in nature that shades and cools the place in this city that is so sun-loving, it is a charming place that is worth visiting on a Cartagena afternoon.
