BIOGRAPHY

Rómulo Bustos Aguirre is a Colombian writer, poet and essayist born in Santa Catalina, Bolívar; Colombia on September 5, 1954. His poetic work has been recognized nationally and internationally.

He has twice won the national poetry award, the first in 1993 with the work “In the backyard of heaven” and the second in 2019 with the work “Of flies and angels.” He is described as a writer of slow writing, his poetic work is inspired by the landscape and motifs of his native land, he uses exquisitely refined language rich in images and metaphysical, existential and erotic suggestions.

EDUCATION

Bustos studied Law and Political Science at the University of Cartagena de Indias, Latin American Literature at the Caro y Cuervo Institute in Bogotá and doctoral studies in Religious Sciences at the Complutense University of Madrid.
