The International Tournament of the Corrió Llanero is the largest festival in the Vichada, recognized in the region as the greatest example of Vichadense culture and tradition.

History of the “Corrío Llanero” International Tournament

The Festival has been held every year in the first week of April since 1987, and has as its protagonist the “Corrió” which is a strong rhythm written in octosyllabic verses, one of the most popular cultural samples of the eastern plains and was born out of necessity. to promote and protect the cultural elements that are part of the traditions of the Llanera culture.

The Festival was promoted by the cultural managers Elías Hurtado, Hugo Mantilla Trejo, José Curbelo, Luís Antonio Robledo, Carlos Orlando Acosta, Gustavo Mojica and Rodolfo Falla.

Within the framework of the events related to the “Corrío” the following are held: Contests in the modalities of voice, Creole passage, strong rhythms, copleros and dance couples make up the main events. Within the framework of the festival, various events are also held such as: The international reign, coleus days, the llanerazo, samples of the typical gastronomy of vichada, llanero barbecues and concerts by national and international artists.

It is a Festival that vibrates with the culture of the eastern plains, a culture shared by the people of Colombia and Venezuela, it is an event in which both the llanero and the visitor can integrate to enjoy the best of this region of friendly and thriving people. .
