Biography
Alfredo Tomás Tatis Benzo is a Colombian sculptor, painter, and architect, born in Cartagena de Indias on August 10, 1952. He is considered one of the outstanding sculptors of the 20th century in Colombia.
Benzo showed a strong passion for art from an early age. At 15 years old, he began studying sculpture in Medellín, later returning to Cartagena where he studied Fine Arts at the School of Fine Arts, and subsequently pursued Architecture at the Universidad del Atlántico.

Throughout his long career, he has held numerous exhibitions in Colombia and created sculptures and busts for various personalities, including busts presented to Pope John Paul II and Pope Francis.
He has successfully combined his career in art with architecture and teaching, participating as an architect in various design, restoration, and construction projects of emblematic houses and historically important places in Cartagena and Barranquilla. Among these are the restoration of the Altar of Cristo de la Inspiración in the Church of Santo Domingo, the restoration of San Diego Park, and the Plaza de la Proclamación. He also served as a professor at the University of Fine Arts of Cartagena for five years.
