BIOGRAPHY

Leonor González Mina, better known as “The Great Black Woman of Colombia”; is a Colombian singer, actress, dancer, politician and composer, born in the Corregimiento of Robles, Jamundí, Valle del Cauca on June 16, 1934.

Her career began at the age of 18 when she joined the ballet of Delia Zapata Olivella and Manuel Zapata Olivella; During a presentation in Paris, he was encouraged to sing to the audience. Since then, he began a fruitful musical career. He has recorded more than 30 albums, even participating in the OTI Festival in 1975 with the song “Campesino de ciudad.”

Among the artist's most remembered songs are “Mi Buenaventura”, “Yo me nombre Cumbia”, “La Mina”, “El Alejo Pescador”, “Chocoanita”, “Mi cafetal”, among many others.

She was married for 19 years to the musician and composer Esteban Cabezas Rher with whom she had two children: Juan Camilo and Candelario. In 2019, the production “Leonor” was launched based on the artist's life; in which she also acts in the role of her grandmother.
