There are several legends around the figure of fallen lord of Monserrate, some claim that their hair grows or becomes heavier than normal.

Around the Cerro de Monserrate, the Sanctuary and the religious figures that exist in it, there is a great variety of myths, stories, superstitions and urban legends that fuel interest in this emblematic site of Bogotá.

“The Fallen Lord” or “The Lord of Monserrate” are some of the names by which the main figure of Jesus Christ found in the Sanctuary of Monserrate is known. Believers have attributed many miracles to this figure, especially healings, which is why many parishioners make promises and pilgrimages, such as climbing the hill on their knees or barefoot, going to the sanctuary every Sunday, novenas, etc.

But many legends have also emerged around this figure, one of them says that this sculpture grows hair, another says that it usually gets much heavier when they try to lower it for processions and events than when they try to raise it, that even if it does not You want them to take it down, it is impossible for them to carry it because it is so heavy.
