El Tuparro National Park is a natural reserve located in the Vichada Department, is a large savannah composed of gallery forests, morichales, saladillales, rocky outcrops of crystalline stones, a great variety of water tributaries such as the Tuparro River, the Tomo River, Caño Tuparrito, Caño Maipurés, La Laguna Guaipé, among others; It also has a great variety of fauna and flora, including more than 320 species of birds and 20 species of orchids.

History of the El Tuparro National Natural Park

In 1970, 250 thousand hectares of this area were declared as faunal territory in order to create conservation standards for the fauna and flora of the place, which led to the official creation of the El Tuparro National Natural Park being declared in 1980, expanding the area. to 548 thousand hectares and thereby creating one of the largest national parks in Colombia in which one of the greatest varieties of fauna and flora typical of the Orinoquía region is found.
