Biography
Paula Peña is a Colombian actress, born in Bogotá, remembered for productions such as Yo Soy Betty, la Fea, Don Chinche, and Dejemos de Vainas.
Her birth name is Miriam Elizabeth Avendaño Peña. Her father, Jorge Enrique Avendaño, and her mother, Ana Silvia Peña, worked in the clothing sector with a small factory of their own. She has one older brother. The change of her name came at the suggestion of Jaime Botero, one of the most iconic promoters of Colombian theater and television, who told her that her name was too long and proposed changing it to Paula Peña, which was catchier.

She studied her primary education in a convent school, where she initially intended to dedicate her life to God. However, after participating in plays during her childhood, she fell in love with acting. After finishing high school, she devoted herself fully to acting. She considers herself a self-taught actress, since she did not pursue specialized studies in acting or theater.
Currently, Paula Peña is largely retired from the entertainment industry. She settled in Brazil with her daughter, who practices medicine in that country.
