Biography
Claudia Osuna is a Colombian singer of romantic music and ballads, born in Mosquera, Cundinamarca; she achieved great success during the 1970s where she stood out with songs such as “Brillaba en tus ojos el amor.” She is the mother of the renowned actress Danna García and the singer Claudia García.
Education
Claudia completed her primary and secondary studies at the Salesian School of Mosquera, Cundinamarca. Once she finished these studies, she began a degree in Communication at the University, but due to her musical commitments she was unable to finish her studies, something she always regretted. For this reason, in 2024 she decided to begin a university degree in Spain.
Beginnings in music
Her beginnings in music occurred in her childhood as part of the Salesian choir of the church of Mosquera, with which she sang every Sunday during mass. Her first record was a mass that she recorded with this same choir.

Her introduction to professional music came through the initiative of her mother, since as she herself confesses, although she loved singing and music, she never had it among her goals to be a professional singer. In fact, at that time she was very focused on the religious sphere, although she clarifies that while she liked nuns she does not know if she would have become one, since at that time she was a person with very modern thinking who liked to express herself.
Her mother began taking her to the radio station for singing contests without her fully knowing what it was about, and when she saw people gathered and singing she was encouraged on her own to participate. The first time she participated in the Orquídea de Plata Philips contest was around 11 to 12 years old, and although she was selected to represent Cundinamarca her mother decided she should not participate because she was still very young. Around the age of 16, again through her mother’s initiative and without her knowing, she participated in the contest again, which was already in the selection phase of the winner of the department of Cundinamarca and not in its registration phase. However, she participated somewhat innocently and after presenting herself the judges decided to include her in the contest.

After winning that phase she ended up representing Cundinamarca and over several months advanced until winning the final phase, becoming the 1970 winner of the Orquídea de Plata Philips contest. As a prize she was contracted for 5 years with the Philips record label; at that time the contract was for around 10,000 pesos of the era and a television. In fact, she confesses that the reason she continued in the contest was to win the television and because of the fun of the experience, so it was a great surprise to have won first place. That event was very important in her hometown, Mosquera, where she was given a great reception upon her return.
Claudia Osuna confesses herself as a great lover of her town and her fellow citizens.
Musical career
After winning the contest she began a career with which she obtained great recognition nationally and also internationally in other Latin American countries, releasing 3 albums: “Quiero aprender a quererte,” “El amor brilla en tus ojos,” and “Hoy me siento feliz en la vida.” Some of the songs from these albums became classics that are still listened to today such as: “Brillaba en tus ojos el amor” and “Amor amor amor.”
In 1972 she took part in the film Canción en el Alma starring Álvaro Ruiz. In 1973 she represented Colombia at the OTI Festival in which she finished in ninth place.
Personal life
Claudia Osuna married businessman Jaime García in Medellín. From the marriage were born Danna García, Claudia García, and Jaime García. When she began raising her daughters Danna and Claudia, she decided to postpone her career since her greatest priority was raising them.
Years later in Bogotá, when Danna and Claudia were 4 and 5 years old, her friends Eduardo and María Consuelo, who worked on a commercial for Chispitas Mariposas, invited her to bring her girls since they needed many children for the commercial and in that way they could meet to spend time together. At a certain point the girls were already presenting the product, which triggered the search for other projects with which both began their careers in the artistic world, which like her own was somewhat unplanned.

Retirement from the artistic world
When her daughters’ careers began to flourish Claudia decided to dedicate all her time to caring for and managing their careers since they were very young and she wanted that if this was the path they wished to take they would be as protected as possible.
Due to the success that both had in acting and music Claudia ended up living in different countries such as Mexico, the United States, and Spain where her daughters developed their careers.
Currently Claudia Osuna lives in Spain along with her daughters Claudia and Danna García, completely retired from the artistic world and dedicating herself to her family and to studying a university degree.
