If you are a Colombian artist, under 35 years old and interested in pursuing a career in contemporary art, this call is for you. More than 50 million in prizes and incentives for up to 10 artists. Open until October 18.

During these turbulent couple of years, art and culture have had to overcome a difficult test in the face of the closure of spaces, the economic crisis and the need to adapt to virtual formats. Facing these challenges, the Young Art Prize has opened the call for entries for a new edition since August, organized by Colsanitas and the Spanish Embassy in Colombia, and aimed at all artists in the country under 35 years of age.

For fourteen years, the Young Art Award has recognized the work of emerging Colombian artists. Some of the winners of the first editions are now recognized figures with a consolidated career. For them, the award represented a first platform for visibility and an economic boost at the beginning of their careers.

Taking into account the impact that the crisis generated by COVID-19 has had on the creative and cultural sectors, the dynamics of the Young Art Award were reconsidered for the 2020 edition and will be maintained in the 2021 edition. As last year, in addition to two winners who will respectively receive $30,000,000 (first place) and $15,000,000 million pesos (second place), there will be eight finalists who will each receive a stimulus of $1,500,000 pesos.

With the opening of the call for the 2021 Young Art Award, Colsanitas and the Spanish Embassy reiterate their support for the plastic arts in Colombia. The Nueveochenta gallery and Bacánika support this effort focused on emerging talent and the well-being of the creative and cultural sector. It doesn't matter if you already have a journey in the art world or if you are just starting your path: if you think this call is for you, welcome! Read the instructions very carefully, several times, and send us your application. We are ready to receive it from today until October 18.
