Jugo de Guayaba Agria (Colombian Sour Guava Juice)
An exquisite and refreshing tropical drink! A perfect balance of sharp acidity and sweetness made from fresh Caribbean sour guavas.
Ingredients
- 6 Sour guavas Guayabas agrias
- Water Enough to fill your blender
- Sugar to taste
- Plenty of ice
Instructions
- Prep the fruit: The very first step is to wash the fresh sour guavas thoroughly under running water.
- Blend the juice: Cut the guavas into smaller chunks. Place them directly into a blender along with the water and sugar to taste. Blend on high until the fruit is completely liquefied. (Chef's Hack: Some traditional cooks prefer to boil the whole guavas in water for about 25 minutes before blending to soften them and deepen the flavor. If you choose this method, make sure to blend them using the exact same water they were boiled in!)
- Strain and serve: Strain the juice to remove the hard seeds. Serve it immediately in large glasses filled with plenty of ice for maximum refreshment!
