According to legend, around 1876 the city of Cartagena de Indias was devastated by an epidemic which was called by the inhabitants of the city as the "plank epidemic", which was a strong cold that, due to the time, ended with the life of many Cartagenans; During that time, the now known Tumbamuertos street was the obligatory passage to travel to the San Diego cemetery.

This street was in a bad state and it is said that because of this many of those carrying the coffins tripped and fell, however, many began to hear the mocking laughter of what they claimed was a goblin every time the coffins fell. or spirit which was the one that caused the falls of the dead.

The street is located in the historic center of the city of Cartagena, it can be accessed by entering through Avenida Venezuela, on the first block on the right, you pass one block and you immediately find Calle Tumbamuertos.
