OAS and VIU Launch Scholarships for Colombian Students to Pursue Master’s Degrees in 2026

Higher education continues to break down barriers and open up opportunities for studying abroad. Colombian professionals now have a new opportunity to specialize in fields such as business, healthcare, humanities, education, law, and science and technology, featuring a digital component tailored to the needs of today’s and tomorrow’s markets.

The Valencian International University (VIU), part of the Planeta Formación y Universidades higher education network, announced the launch of a new edition of the OAS-VIU Scholarships. This program will allow citizens or legal residents of member states of the Organization of American States (OAS) to access official, European-quality online master’s degrees, covering 60% of the total tuition fees for the 2026–2027 academic year.

The call for applications is open across all of the university’s fields of study. The 12-month programs are taught entirely online in Spanish by highly experienced faculty.

These scholarships aim to broaden access to quality international education for professionals in these countries. The selection process evaluates academic and professional criteria, including academic merit, professional experience, career prospects, and meeting the specific admission profile required by the academic program.

The 60% tuition benefit applies exclusively to the cost of the academic program. It excludes administrative expenses such as admission fees, translations, document legalization, materials, degree processing, and other unspecified costs.

To maintain the scholarship, students must meet the university’s academic performance standards. This means they cannot fail courses, be dropped for poor attendance, and must maintain an average grade of 5 out of 10 or higher throughout the program.

Before starting the master’s degree, scholarship recipients must prove their financial capacity to cover the remaining percentage not funded by the scholarship. OAS officials, performance-based contractors, Permanent Mission staff, and their immediate family members are not eligible to participate.

To apply, candidates must complete the official application form available at https://becas.universidadviu.com/becas-OEA and attach the required documents. A specialized committee will evaluate the applications and make the selection. The announcement of the selected candidates is scheduled for April 2026, and the academic year will begin in the 2026–2027 term, with enrollment taking place in March 2026.

For additional inquiries about the process, interested parties can complete the form available at the same link to receive guidance from an advisor.

With this call for applications, the Valencian International University (VIU) continues to strengthen its presence and involvement in Latin American countries. Boasting more than 26,500 students of 87 nationalities across 88 countries and a faculty of 2,950 professors, the institution is one of the leading online universities in Spain and the Spanish-speaking world.
