Biography
Rebeca López is one of the pioneering actresses of Colombian television, having participated in the very first telenovelas produced in the country and starring in the third telenovela ever made in Colombia.
She was born in Pamplona, Norte de Santander, on January 23, 1937. During her childhood and adolescence, she lived in Spain before returning to Colombia, where she studied secretarial work and worked as a typist and assistant at Acerías Paz del Río.

Her acting career began in theater under directors such as Fausto Cabrera, and she had the privilege of learning from artists like Gaspar Ospina and Seki Sano. López was also one of the founders of the Círculo Colombiano de Artistas (CICA). Between 1974 and 1982, during the governments of Alfonso López Michelsen and Julio César Turbay, she served as a diplomat in Cuba and Poland.
She is the mother of actors Guillermo Gálvez and María Cristina Gálvez, from her union with television and theater director Guillermo Gálvez. In an interview, López mentioned that she never stopped acting—she simply was no longer called upon for roles.
