Carlos Barbosa Romero was a Colombian actor and director of television, film, and theater, born in Cali, Valle del Cauca, on January 15, 1944.
He studied Architecture at Universidad del Valle in Cali, where he joined the theater group that later became the university’s Department of Performing Arts. Later, he became part of the National Theater Company of Colombia, touring as far as Costa Rica, before moving to San Andrés and Providencia.

Upon returning to Bogotá, he joined the Teatro Popular de Bogotá, beginning his television career in telenovelas such as Candó and Muerte Escucha.
In 1968, Carlos married actress Chela Arias, with whom he had a son, Carlos Barbosa Arias, who also acted alongside him in the film Pisingaña. In 1988, the couple announced their separation.
Barbosa is remembered as a versatile figure in Colombian arts, bridging architecture, theater, and audiovisual performance with a career that left a lasting mark on national culture.
