Biography
Graciela Arias Celemín, better known as Chela Arias, is a Colombian film, theater, and television actress, born in Medellín on September 17, 1949.
As a child, she took ballet classes for two years at the Dalmar Velkova Academy, where she was enrolled by her mother, Zoila Celemín de Arias, also an actress. Chela began her acting career in theater with the children’s play El Pleito del Queso at the Teatro Colón de Bogotá, under the direction of José Agustín Pulido Téllez.

In 1968, she married Colombian actor and director Carlos Barbosa Romero, with whom she had a son, Carlos Barbosa Arias, who also made appearances in the artistic field, notably acting alongside his father in the film Pisingaña. In 1988, the couple announced their separation.
Chela Arias is remembered as a versatile actress who contributed significantly to Colombian theater, film, and television, continuing the artistic legacy of her family.
