Biography
Enrique Pontón Rivadeneira was a Colombian actor and journalist of theater, film, and television, born in Bogotá on November 7, 1928.
He began his artistic career at a young age with a comedy company, later working with several foreign troupes alongside figures such as Álvarez Sierra, José Cibrián, María Guerrero, and Ángel Garaza. Eventually, he founded his own company and debuted with Un Ángel de la Calle. He later joined the Radio Nacional scenic group, where he performed cycles of Spanish theater classics and Shakespearean works.

In Medellín, he directed La Voz de Medellín and founded the city’s first Experimental Theater Center, which continues to operate at the Biblioteca Popular. By 1956, he entered television, building a fruitful career both in Colombia and Mexico, where he moved in 1964. In Mexico, he distinguished himself particularly in cinema and voice dubbing.
Pontón was married to actress Betty Valderrama, and from their marriage was born Carlos Pontón, who also pursued a career in television and voice acting.
He is remembered as a versatile and pioneering figure in Colombian performing arts, with a legacy that extended beyond national borders.
