Biography
Jaime Botero Gómez (Rionegro, August 27, 1929 – Bogotá, February 5, 1994) was a Colombian actor, playwright, and director of theater and television, recognized as one of the most important figures in the national artistic scene. He founded the acting school Academia Charlot, an institution that trained several generations of actors.

Many of his productions were written under the pseudonym Cosme Zúñiga. His professional career was extensive and diverse, consolidating him as an actor, director, and playwright. In the 1970s, he joined television with the celebrated Teatro Popular Caracol, a valuable cultural contribution through more than seven hundred teleteatro productions.
Between 1963 and 1969, he participated with his own troupe in national theater festivals, while in television he created memorable telenovelas such as Lejos del nido, Teresa Valverde, Kundry, La bruja de las minas, Su majestad el dinero, La mala hierba, and El bazar de los idiotas.

On a personal level, Jaime Botero Gómez was the father of several artists who also left their mark on Colombian television and cinema: Oscar Botero, María Cecilia Botero, Ana Cristina Botero, and Hilda Botero. He was also the father of Daniel Botero and Sara Botero, from his second marriage.
