Julio Luzardo

Biography

Julio Luzardo is a Colombian director of film, theater, and television, born in Bogotá on September 24, 1938. He has also distinguished himself as a screenwriter, playwright, and producer of films, series, plays, and commercials.

He studied film at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and also took courses in theater and acting at the Pasadena Playhouse.

After participating in the direction, production, and editing of several films and television series, Luzardo dedicated more than 25 years to producing television commercials, starting with 16mm black-and-white work and later evolving into color productions.

He is the brother of renowned Colombian actresses Consuelo Luzardo and Celmira Luzardo, the latter of whom passed away in 2014.

Julio Luzardo is remembered as a versatile creator whose contributions spanned multiple artistic fields, leaving a significant mark on Colombian audiovisual culture.
