Biography
Celmira Luzardo was a Colombian film, theater, and television actress, born in Bogotá on March 31, 1952. She became widely recognized for her roles in productions such as Yo Soy Betty, la Fea, La Potra Zaina, La Mujer del Presidente, Francisco el Matemático, among many others.

Initially, she began studying engineering but decided not to continue, choosing instead to pursue her true passion: the performing arts. She moved to London, where she studied editing and montage at The National Film Institute. Later, she studied cinema at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografía in Italy, where she even received classes from Nobel laureate Gabriel García Márquez.
After completing her studies, she returned to Colombia and participated in numerous successful productions in both television and film.
Celmira was the sister of renowned actress Consuelo Luzardo and director Julio Luzardo. At 19, she married Juan Escobar López, nephew of former president Alfonso López Michelsen, whom she considered the love of her life. In 1981, Escobar was tragically murdered during an attack by a security guard. Later, she married actor Marco Canevari, with whom she had a daughter, Laura Canevari.

In 2003, she retired from acting and moved to the islands of San Andrés. On March 12, 2014, she passed away after battling stomach cancer diagnosed in 2011. Her ashes were scattered in the “sea of seven colors” of the San Andrés and Providencia archipelago, a symbolic farewell to a beloved actress whose legacy remains deeply cherished in Colombian culture.
