Biography
Arcelia Bernal del Río, better known in the artistic field as Chela del Río, was a Colombian actress born in Bogotá on January 20, 1930.
Del Río began her career in Cali at a radio station, later moving into television, where she is considered one of the pioneers of Colombian television. She stood out in several productions, including San Tropel, Don Chinche, Pecados Capitales, among many others.

Chela del Río married very young, and at the age of 28 her husband passed away. She had six daughters. Her second marriage was to actor Waldo Urrego, with whom she had two children; in the 1970s the couple separated. Two of her daughters, Lucero Gómez and Gloría Gómez, also built distinguished careers as actresses in Colombian television.
After complications from knee surgery, Chela del Río passed away on August 24, 2010, at the age of eighty.
