Ingredients
  

  • 3 pounds pasty potatoes (if you can't find pasty potatoes, use whatever is available to you)
  • 1 long onion stem
  • 1 cup of milk
  • ½ butter cup (or margarine)
  • Salt (al gusto)
  • 1 parsley sprig

Step by step preparation
 

  • The first thing you should do is wash the potatoes very well. Then you peel them and chop them into pieces.
  • Then you must cook the potatoes in enough water so that they are covered, along with the entire onion slice, then add salt to taste. Let them cook until they soften.
  • Then drain the potatoes, remove the onion and with a fork begin to mash the potatoes until they are completely broken down.
  • Then place the resulting puree in a pot over the heat, along with the milk and previously melted butter.
  • Finally, stir everything very well with a wooden spoon until you obtain a homogeneous mass. If it is necessary to add a little more milk or cream, do not hesitate to do so. Then serve it sprinkling a little previously chopped parsley.

  • In some parts of Colombia, mashed potatoes are often called “Naco”.
  • Potatoes are a very good source of carbohydrates, starch, quality protein, B6 and potassium.
